The Country Office in Accra is looking for a Senior Agriculture Advisor to join their Team.

A. Responsibilities
The Advisor is responsible for:
1/ managing the Development Partnerships with the private sector initiatives in the programme with specific focus on promoting Private Sector Investment in Agriculture and enhancing the collaboration with the private sector, including supporting the implementation of the E4D Agricultural Partnership Projects

2/ Managing an area of responsibility that forms part of the programme objectives, cooperation agreements with partners, team agreements, and/or agreements with the superior

3/ Assisting project/programme initiatives to provide professional advisory services to and cooperate with a broad range of target groups particularly partner companies and partnership project beneficiaries.

4/ Independently managing and monitoring projects assigned to him or her under the E4D Programme; including management and steering responsibility for third-party contractors implementation

5/ Supporting TL in stakeholder and relationship management with external partners

6/ Supporting the TL in acquisitions in line with E4D Country Strategy

The professional advisor performs the following tasks:

1/ Advising the partner institution(s)
The Advisor
_ assists and monitors the development and implementation of project/programme plans and activities in close consultation with counterparts and cooperation partners

_ contributes to preparing and implementing the coordination process, joint project/programme activities and work at the national level, meso and local levels.

_ deals with the design, preparation, and implementation of workshops, seminars, and other events on issues connected with the project/programme’s area of activity

_ develops and organises quality assurance measures and suggest s necessary changes, improvements and initiatives

_ supports in building the capacity of stakeholders in Private Partnerships (DPPs)

2/ Networking and Collaboration
The Advisor
_ supports cooperation, regular contact, and dialogue with partners, assists with PR work and cooperates with local communities, relevant organisations, non-governmental agencies and individuals in the project/programme environment and with other projects to improve and maintain good working relationship

_ communicates local interests and efforts, forwards these and encourages sharing ideas and information for the benefit of the project/programme

_supports the exploration/identification of potential private sector organisations in the programme districts and regions.

Knowledge Management
The Advisor
_ supports the development of ready-to-use Good Agricultural Practices Curriculum, manuals, and handbook for selected Agricultural Value Chains.

_ ensures knowledge transfer to project/programme information

_ prepares appropriate input for various project/programme reports, including annual reports, and contributes the other reports required by the programme manager and GIZ Head Office

_ assists with research activities and studies on political issues which benefit joint programmes

4/ Coordination tasks
The Advisor
_ assists with general project planning and develops project concepts including preparation, organisation and moderation of planning exercises and their implementation, management, monitoring, quality management evaluation,  communication and documentation

_ coordinates relevant project activities at local  level in consultation with the manager and in cooperation with the partners, both as regards implementation  and preparing organisational aspects

_ Compiles the relevant information for joint activities and assignments

_ Handles order management on behalf of GIZ (e.g offer preparation, impact monitoring, project progress review, reporting)

C. Required qualifications, competences and experience
Qualifications
_ Masters in Agriculture (Agribusiness, Agriculture Economics, etc)

Professional Experience
_ At least seven years of professional and practical experience in a comparable position

Other knowledge, additional competences
_ very good working knowledge of ICT technologies (related software, phone, fax, email, the internet) and computer applications (eh MS Office)
_ fluent written and oral knowledge of English language and a working knowledge of at least one popular Ghanaian language and German
_ willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed-corresponding measures are agreed with management
_ solid knowledge of Ghana, it’s socio-political situation and its culture
