Agribusiness Forum 2012

AgriBusiness Forum aims at strengthening the Agri-Food sector in Africa, by encouraging partnerships, exchanging best practices and attracting investments. We believe that the success of Africa depends on the development and growth of its private sector.
This year’s AgriBusiness Forum is co-organised with UNDP – United Nations Development Programme (following a successful co-organisation of AgriBusiness Forum 2011) and PanAAC – Pan African Agribusiness and Agro Industry Consortium – and in collaboration with FAO – Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN – and Rabobank Foundation.
AgriBusiness Forum 2012 builds on existing global & African initiatives, like the New Vision for Agriculture (presented at WEF), NEPAD’s Comprehensive African Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP) and the African Agribusiness and Agro-industries Development Initiative (3ADi), endorsed by the African Union in Abuja in March 2010, all of which foster public-private sector partnerships and increased private sector investment in agribusiness development. The Johannesburg Declaration on agribusiness, food security and nutrition, adopted at the AgriBusiness Forum 2011, represents an important contribution to the joint efforts undertaken by international organisations, governments and the private sector to boost sustainable food security development in Africa.
This is the meeting point of choice for those who wish to take part and invest in Africa’s Agri-Food growth. The event offers to participants a combination of Plenary Sessions, Technical Workshops, Pre-organized B2B Meetings and an Agricultural Exhibition.
To encourage rural development innovation & entrepreneurship, especially among the youth, the forum will put a special emphasis on ‘Youth & Agribusiness’ to examine successful programs led by governments and international organisations and will feature the EMRC-Rabobank Project Incubator Award. The winner receives a US$15.000 prize sponsored by Rabobank Foundation.
AgriBusiness Forum 2012 will feature for the first time an Agricultural Exhibition: “Along the Value Chain” where Agribusiness and Agro-Industry companies from Input Suppliers to Marketers through Production, Transport, Packaging, Processing, Extension Services, Financers, but also government agencies will exhibit technology, products, machines, and services linked to the various segments along the Agri-Food Value Chain.
A key element in the Forum is the B2B sessions, during which meetings are scheduled according to delegates’ requests and profiles, so as to bring about the best possible results.
