Project: People’s Green Energy

The “People’s Green Energy” Project is a proposed country measure of a global project commissioned by the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) to improve access to modern energy services and to promote alternative and sustainable technologies using renewable energy and energy efficiency. The project promotes investments in decentralized energy systems and productive use of energy with the participation of citizens, as well as in partnership approaches. The country measure Ghana is proposed to focus on
a/ the promotion and further development of the capacities of skilled workers, mainly for solar irrigation systems ( installers and farmers);
b/ access to decentralized renewable energy systems for enterprises and cooperatives, as well as for social institutions ( solar irrigation systems; PV systems for cooling and processing agricultural products and for other income-generating activities; schools and health facilities) with the help of incentives ( results-based financing);
c/ the promotion of investment in decentralized RE systems ( mobilisation of financing by banks and crowdfunding by banks and crowdfunding companies).
The target groups of the project are farmers, enterprises active in rural areas, cooperatives, women’s groups, social institutions, and users of training facilities. Main political partner is the Ministry of Energy.
The advisor performs the following tasks:
~ assists project initiatives, eg. Development of curricula and training materials for trainings on design, installation, operation and maintenance of solar pumps and solar irrigation systems, as well as training of trainers in this field, provides professional advisory services to and cooperate with the relevant sector stakeholders, in particular Energy Commission, Ministry of Energy, RE training centres and agricultural training centres;
~ assists in the selection of partner institutions for the development of curricula and training materials as well as the implementation of trainings of trainers;
~ assists in the development of curricula and training materials aimed at
# installers to improve their skills in planning and installing solar pumping and solar irrigation systems;
# users of solar pumping and solid irrigation systems to improve their skills in operation and maintenance;
# employees of financial institutions to improve their skills on financing RE systems;
# farmers, SMEs and cooperatives to strengthen their business and agricultural skills
~ assists in the implementation of trainings on the above-mentioned topics;
~ supports in bulding up a pool of trainers on the above-mentioned topics;
~ supporting cooperation, regular contact, and dialogue with partners,assisting with PR work and cooperating with relevant organisations, non-governmental agencies, and individuals in the project environment and with other projects. In particular, the component: “Technical and Vocational Education and Training” of the projectL “Market Entry for into RE and EE for the Productive Sector” or its successor to improve and maintain good working relationships;
~ ensuring knowledge transfer of project information, in particular ensuring transfer of knowledge from work undertaken by consultants to the partner institutions;
~ developing ready-to-use strategies and technical concepts, including guidelines, manuals and procedures;
~ assisting with general project planning and developing project concept including preparation, organisation,and moderation of planning exercises and their implementation, management, monitoring, quality management, evaluation, communication and documentation.
¬ Master’s Degree ( MSc) in a subject relevant to the project objectives,e.g. engineering, renewable energy, and energy efficiency, education, agriculture;
¬ 4 years of professional experience in a comparable position;
¬ experience with curriculum/training programme development or installation, maintenance and planning of solar pumping/irrigation systems is a great asset;
¬ fluent in English in a spoken and written form. A working knowledge of German is an asset;
¬ very good working knowledge of ICT technologies and computer technologies
¬ strong interpersonal skills.Work experience in an intercultural environment is an asset.
