CALL FOR EXRESSION OF INTEREST
ON-SITE RECORDS, DOCUMENTATION AND BOOKKEEPING TRAINING
GIZ Comcashew organised an access to finance training which came off from the 12th to 14th of July, 2018 in Sunyani. The objective of the training was to build the capacity of cashew processors on access to finance, specifically business plan development and how to meet the bank or financial institutions requirements. During the training program, participants were taken through both theoretical and practical aspects of business plan development but were unable to present the entire segment of the plan for review by the consultant. A consultant was contracted to guide processors in developing their business plans, an exercise which ended on 30th April 2019.
A related development is the access to Finance Forum organised on 7th and 8th March 2019 to connect financiers and processors.
In addition to having a compelling business proposal, a processor must be operationally attractive to attract funding. One key variable of operational attractiveness is proper records, documentation and bookkeeping. This on-site training seeks to help processors adopt best practices in their records, bookkeeping and documentation in order to attract funds and become more investable.
OBJECTIVES OF THIS ASSIGNMENT
This assignment seeks to:
• Conduct situation analysis on record keeping, documentation and book-keeping of 10 selected processors.
• Set up systems (both manual and computer based) for record keeping and book-keeping for each processor according to their peculiar situation.
• Advice on procedure for acquiring non-existent documentation and replacing/renewing missing /outdated documentation
• Run set-up systems to rectify any functional/procedural defects before consultant leaves site.
SCOPE OF THE ASSIGNMENT
Situational analysis report for each processor, functional systems (both manual and computer based) for record keeping and book-keeping for each processor, and practical sessions through the period. It is estimated that the consultant spends 8 days on the premises of each processor.
EXPERIENCE OF THE INDIVIDUAL CONSULTANT/CONSULTING FIRM
The Consultant should be an Agribusiness Advisor with background in either Accountancy or Financial Management and Agribusiness. Not less than ten (10) years varied experience in agribusiness development with specific reference to financial management and accountancy is required. The consultant should have good communication and presentation skills with not less than five (5) years’ experience in advising and training. Knowledge of the cashew sector will be a competitive advantage.
