Background and Rationale
The Ghana Green Label is an initiative started by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA), working with GIZ and Ghana Standards Authority, along with other partners (including GhanaVeg, Christian Aid, Agro-Eco, the Food and Drug Authority, and Quin Organics) into a registered Foundation with its own Board of Directors. There is great interest in the Foundation and it is envisaged to grow to become a national mechanism for food safety and environmental sustainability in the domestic market for Fresh Fruits and Vegetables as well as the baseline certificate for exports.
The Ghana Green Label Scheme is a full national and private sector-led Public-Private-Partnership initiative for certification in Ghana aimed at promoting safe food production using good and environmentally sustainable agricultural practices as well as safe postharvest handling and distribution of fruits and vegetables.
The certification scheme is modelled to certify operators that comply with the Green Label Standard.
The Green Label Ghana Foundation in view of the above, hereby invites application from Trainers/ Training Institutions to administer training for Green Label registered members based on the Green Label Standard.
Job Location: Nationwide
¬ Train Green Label applicants to understand and implement Green Label GAPs using the Green Label Farmers Manual.
¬ Responsible for providing technical assistant to applicants to comply with the Green Label standards.
¬ Present a detailed training evaluation report to the Executive Secretary on various level of training methodologies including onsite demonstrations, practical assignments and final evaluation of applicant knowledge of the Green Label certification standard.
Qualification and Requirements
The qualification for Consultants must include the following:
¬ A minimum of a Diploma in Agriculture or Horticulture, and
¬ At least two (2) years of work experience in providing agro-based training in the Horticulture sector.
¬ Experience in GAPs/Certification is a plus

NB: A Consultant will only become a Green Label Accredited trainer after successful completion of a Trainer of Trainers course that will be organized for shortlisted trainers for the purposes of quality control.
