Job Title: Advisor-Private Sector Development

Job Location: Accra, Greater Accra

Job Description

The technical professional is responsible for:
~ Implementing daily operational aspects of all issues related to the project SECO-ComCashew initiative

~ Processing technical aspects and further developing the area of responsibility in accordance with the specified quality standards

~ Maintaining good flow of communication and information between all involved institutions and counterparts and GIZ

~ Managing as an interim the Matching Fund (MF) Component for Ghana under the supervision of the Director of Production

TASKS

Management and Coordination

The technical professional
~ Responsible for coordinating the GIZ-SECO initiative project in Ghana under the guidance of ComCashew management

~ Liaison between project partners in Ghana and ComCashew management

~ Manages consultants and advise private sector partners of ComCashew in Ghana and potentially in other ComCashew countries

~ Works as an interim manager for the MF for Ghana specific projects in strong operational relation with the overall Matching Fund Manager and Advisor Sector Organization for the efficient harmonization of tasks for a competitive cashew sector in Ghana and other ComCashew Countries would be essential

~ Responsible for writing work flow procedures, organizing meetings, updating project schedules Coordinates and assists in preparing and conducting project activities

~ Provides technical assistance to cashew processing factories and organize factories and factory staff for trainings by ATVET

~ Participates in formulating project action plans, implementing and documenting training events, workshops, forums, team meeting and other project activities

~ Assists the project with organisational and management issues

~ Regularly consults with the GIZ officer responsible for the contract and cooperation and Director Private Sector Development on project activities

~ Participates in formulating project action plans and helps synchronise the planning and budgeting system

Communication and Networking
The technical professional
~ Communicates with key project partners on regular basis

~ Develops and maintains contact with all important stakeholders

~ Supports cooperation, regular contact and dialogue with partners, assists with public relation work and cooperates with local communities, relevant organisations, non-governmental organizations and individuals in the project environment and with other projects to improve and maintain good working relationships

~ Provides technical assistance to local and international experts

~ Ensures knowledge management: collects processes and distributes relevant information, monitors communication and interaction between government institutions, NGOs and society through analyses of the media, direct dialogue, participation in meetings and seminars etc

Data Management, Analysis and Monitoring
The technical professional
~ In-charge of tracking project statistics in the designated project area

~ Compiles, processes and manages the database of key beneficiaries of the project

~ Responsible for preparing and reviewing documentations, files and data in the project area

~ Monitors progress and keep M&E database on the SECO-ComCashew initiative up-to-date

~ Participates in developing project work plan

Other Duties/Additional Tasks
The technical professional
~ Performs other duties and tasks at the request of management

~ Prepares training materials and conducts coaching for partner institutions

Required Qualifications, Competences and Expertise
~ University degree (bachelor or masters) in Food Science, Food Technology, Economics, Biotechnology, Food Engineering, Business Administration and/or others related to the project objectives

~ At least 5 years’ professional experience in a comparable position

~ Experience with working in multicultural environment, with good interpersonal relationship and negotiation skills

~ Experience in working with the private sector as well as having good relation in working with the public sector

~ Experience working with national partners in Ghana

~ Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and create and maintain effective relationships with private companies and government personnel

Other Knowledge, Additional Competences
~ Strong organizational and management skills

~ Ability to manage your own time and responsibilities independently

~ Good working knowledge of ICT technologies (related software, phone, fax, email, the internet) and computer applications (e.g. MS Office)

~ Strong managerial and organisational competence

~ Willingness to travel regularly

~ Very good knowledge of the English Language and relevant Ghanaian language(s)

~ Knowledge of the French language is an added advantage
