EOI: Village Savings and Loans Association Consultancy

ACDI/VOCA is implementing the USAID-funded Agricultural Development and Value Chain Enhancement (ADVANCE) Project. ADVANCE aims at increasing the competitiveness of the maize, rice and soya valuechains, through increasing agricultural productivity, improving access to market and trade and enhancing local capacities. The project also contributes to the US Government’s Feed the Future Initiative of reducing global hunger and food security.

The ADVANCE project is looking for organisations to scale up its Village Savings and Loans concept in its project implementing districts and communities. This will be done on regional basis in selected districts of the projects implementing regions: Northern, Upper East, Upper West, and the Project’s southern zone (Ashanti and Brong Ahafo Regions).

This assignment will focus on facilitating the formation of Village Savings and Loans Association (VSLA) comprising 20 to 25 members. The selected local NGO/Consultant will train the project’s beneficiaries to define the purpose of VSLA’s, elect members to serve as officials, and set terms for savings and loans, including interest rates, repayment schedules and penalties for late payments.

The NGO/Consultant will train members on record-keeping using techniques/approaches suitable for literate and illiterate members. Village Agents based in the communities will also be identified and trained to enable them provide scheduled monitoring for a fee paid by the group.
